Removing and installing control unit for electromechanical parking brake [J540]

Control unit for electromechanical parking brake -J540- is integrated in ABS control unit -J104-.

• Separating and connecting ABS control unit -J104- ⇒ Rep.

  gr. 45; Separating and connecting control unit on hydraulic unit

Removing and installing parking brake motor [V282]/[V283]

Removing

Left parking brake motor -V282- and right parking brake motor -V283- are referred to hereafter as parking brake motor.

Removal and installation are described for the left side of vehicle as an example.

Important

• Switch off ignition for at least 30 seconds before disconnecting electrical connector.

• Disconnect electrical connector -2- on parking brake motor -1-.

• Remove brake shoes, and unhook parking brake cable from brake shoe ⇒ Rep. gr. 46; Removing and installing brake shoes.
• Press down locking lug in bracket, and turn parking brake motor out of bracket.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

• Carry out function "Basic setting brake system" using ⇒ Vehicle diagnostic tester ⇒ Rep. gr. 00; Access to diagnoses.

Tightening torques
