Removing and installing steering wheel
Removing
Vehicles with multifunction steering wheel:
If the multifunction steering wheel is renewed, perform the test
plan for the renewal of the control unit:
- Carry out function "Renew multifunction buttons" using ⇒ Vehicle
diagnostic tester ⇒ Communication; Rep. gr. 00 ;
Electrical components; Access to diagnoses .
All vehicles (continued)
- Move steering column to middle height position.
- Remove airbag unit with igniter ⇒ General body repairs,
interior; Rep. gr. 69 ; Driver side airbag; Removing and
installing airbag unit with airbag igniter on driver side [N95] .
- Turn wheels to straight-ahead position. The steering wheel
must be removed/installed in the centre position.
- Disconnect electrical connector -5-.
- Unscrew bolt -2-.
- Pull steering wheel -1- off steering column -4-.

Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
- Make sure that markings -3- on steering column and steering
wheel are in line with each other.

Vehicles with multifunction steering wheel:
If the multifunction steering wheel has been renewed, conclude
the test plan for the renewal of the control unit:
- Conclude function "Renew multifunction buttons" using
⇒ Vehicle diagnostic tester ⇒ Communication; Rep. gr. 00 ;
Electrical components; Access to diagnoses .

Important
- If the steering wheel is skewed, the steering wheel must be
removed again and refitted onto the splines of the steering
column.
